Monarda fistulosa

Bee balm is a well-loved staple in native landscaping and has recently crossed over into conventional landscapes. Like other members of the mint family, it provides important immune-boosting action for bees, including bumblebees, other native bees, and honeybees.  As an added bonus, leaves can be used fresh or dry to make a refreshing tea.

•Habitat: mesic, wet and dry prairie

•Family: Mint

•Sun/Shade: full sun, dappled shade, part-day shade

•Pollinator service: Supports bumblebee immune system health, and a variety of native bees, bee mimics and butterflies

 

NOTES:

Almost always loaded with butterflies, including the Monarch and other beneficials.
