Amorpha canescens
 
This species is technically a small shrub, but acts much like an herbaceous perennial. Leadplant sports dusty purple flowering spikes and soft hairy leaves. During the lead mining boom, miners believed the presence of this species indicated lead could be found in the soil beneath.
